8.28.23

We are all very excited to open the doors for the start of our 2023-2024 school year! Teachers have been working diligently getting ready for tomorrow. Please reassure your child there will be staff throughout the building to answer questions or point them in the right direction. It is normal to have questions about locations when you are new, especially in a building as big as ours.

Freshman will receive their school ID badges tomorrow. Students should be using badges as soon as they receive them when getting school lunches. All other students will be receiving their school badges within a few weeks. If lost students will need to purchase a replacement school ID.

First 3 Days of School

Each of the first two days of school will start in X block, which is our Advisory/Homeroom period. If you cannot determine your X block room, switch to the List View when looking at your schedule in Aspen.

Please check Aspen for the most updated version of your schedule as changes may have occurred between last week and now.

Below is the bell schedule for the first three days of school. You will see that Tuesday is an “odd day,” in which you will go to all your odd numbered classes. Wednesday, is an “even day,” in which you will go to your even numbered classes. On Thursday, you will go to all eight classes.

Student Parking

Student parking is available on campus in two spots: Lot C and Lot D.

  • Lot C is shared between staff and students. Students can only park in numbers 58-199 See image below.

  • Lot D is now open and accessible at the junction of Bushee and Verndale Streets. Lot D is unnumbered and students may park in any available spot.

  • Students CANNOT park in Lot A, Lot B, or in front of the main entrance. Parking in these areas may result in loss of parking privileges.

  • If all Lot C and D spaces are full, students may park in the spaces adjacent to the Drummond Street fields.

  • Students should not park on neighboring roads.

Below is a map of all of our parking lots.

Student Drop-off and Pick-up

We will have TWO different drop-off locations, one in front of the school and the other in the back.

FRONT OF SCHOOL

  • Once you enter the driveway, form two lines.

  • Do NOT stop directly in front of the main doors. This will cause a bottleneck/traffic jam.

  • There are two drop-off zones. One before the main doors and one after.

  • School doors open at 6:45 am.

  • Keep your vehicle window open to help with communication.

  • See video tutorial we made for families last year: https://watch.screencastify.com/v/QbpldNymJthVfMIABE0F

  • Drive carefully. This is new for many of you!

  • Regarding pick-up at 1:50: we have a new Rotary at the intersection of Rathbun Willard and Rome; it will be important that you do NOT block through traffic at the rotary.

Below are two images of the front of school drop-off/pick up loop.

BACK OF SCHOOL (Lot D/Bushee Lot)

  • This is a new drop-off zone (drop-off only; no dismissal pick up).

  • Enter at the Verndale - Bushee Street junction.

  • Follow the traffic flow pattern as indicated.

  • Students exit vehicles closest to the sidewalk.

  • Cars MUST exit Lot D the same way they came in. Cars will NOT be allowed to exit through D heading towards Rathbun Willard Drive. This is for the safety of students walking and driving.

Below is an image of the Lot D student drop-off pattern.

Please remember there is NO drop off/pick near the Brennan School entrance.

Fire Drill

We will have a fire drill sometime during the first week of school. We conduct this drill at the start of the year so students and staff can practice a safe and efficient evacuation of the building.
