Career and Technical Education - Cooperative Education

Did you know that our Career and Technical Education (CTE) seniors have the unique opportunity to gain real-world work experience—and earn a paycheck—during their shop time?

Through our Cooperative Education (Co-Op) program, students put their skills to work in professional settings while still in school. Local employers actively seek out our CTE students, often viewing these placements as a direct pipeline to full-time employment after graduation.

We are proud to share that our Cooperative Education Coordinator, Ms. Kristen Marshall, has already secured high-quality employment opportunities for 36 seniors so far this year! In addition to Co-Op placements, she continues to expand opportunities across our technical programs by connecting students with industry internships, with 6 students currently participating.

These programs give our students a distinct competitive edge as they transition into the workforce or higher education. If you’d like to learn more about how your student can prepare for future Co-Op or internship opportunities, feel free to reach out to our CTE department!

BIG BLUE WE GOT YOU!

Big Blue

Did you know, when students feel a stronger sense of belonging at school, they are more likely to demonstrate greater academic motivation, self-esteem, and achievement?  BIG BLUE WE GOT YOU! AHS, in conjunction with work from The JED Foundation, KyleCares Foundation, and Active Minds strives to help students feel more included in the school community and access resources they need. Each month, we’ll be coming to you with important information about real world issues, and ways that we can connect with our fellow Bombardiers as well as the greater Attleboro community.

September means back to school—with the excitement of reconnecting with friends, joining clubs, trying new activities, and enjoying all the fun that fall has to offer! But a new school year can also bring driver’s ed, college applications, a part-time job, challenging coursework, and family responsibilities. With so much to look forward to and so much on your plate, it’s completely normal to feel a little overwhelmed as you settle into the rhythm of a busy new school year.  There are many positive coping strategies we can use to help, and box breathing is one of the easiest, most effective ways to cope with stress and anxiety.   Click here for a video on box breathing.   If your student is feeling overwhelmed or could use a little extra support, encourage them to reach out to their teachers or house office. There are people at school who are ready to listen, help, and make sure they have the support they need to have a successful school year!

A message from the AHS Nurses

A regular attendance routine is important for your child’s well being and learning. However, to help prevent the spread of illness in our school, we wanted to review our health protocols designed to support keeping all students healthy and safe.

SEND ME TO SCHOOL IF…

  • I have a runny nose or just a mild cough, but no other symptoms.

  • I have NOT had a fever and have NOT taken medicine to reduce a fever in more than 24 hours.

  • I have a mild stomach ache.

  •  I have NOT thrown up within 24 hours and can tolerate eating and drinking.

  • I have a mild sore throat without fever.

KEEP ME AT HOME IF...

  • I have a temperature of 100.0 or higher.

  • I have thrown up in the past 24 hours.

  •  I have had diarrhea within the last 24 hours.

  • I have a persistent, nagging cough.

  •  I have been prescribed antibiotics but haven’t yet taken the medicine for at least 24 hours.

General Health Practices

  • Remind your child to cough or sneeze into their elbow, not their hands.

  • Encourage frequent hand washing.

  • Most illnesses require 24 hours of rest after fever drops to allow for proper recovery.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Communication

  • Please call in your child's absences to their house office.

  • Contact the nurse to report any concerning symptoms or new treatments ordered by a doctor.

Medical Documentation

  • Please provide documentation when your child has been evaluated by a medical provider including any necessary accommodations or restrictions.

  • Any treatment or medication needed at school requires an official medical order and completed parent permission slip.

Thank you for your partnership in keeping our children happy and healthy! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
