Grade 9 Science MCAS is Next Week
On Tuesday and Wednesday, all grade 9 students (and some grade 10 students) will be taking the Science MCAS exam. Read below for important information:
HERE is a student friendly test room location document that shares where most grade 9 students will be testing. A handful of students will be testing in rooms other than those indicated on this chart. Those students will receive a pass in X block before they report to testing.
Bring your Chromebook. Students have school-issued Chromebooks and they must bring them fully charged on each testing day. It is also recommended that students bring their chargers.
This is a mandatory test for grade 9 students. There is no opt out.
MCAS provides opportunities for our students.
The state grants the MCAS-based Adams and Koplik Scholarships.
Scores will help determine eligibility for honors and AP courses.
Scores will help determine honors diploma eligibility.
MCAS results will still count in the state’s accountability system. AHS will be evaluated as a school on how our students do on MCAS.
MCAS data will be used to help determine academic interventions for students and guide curricular and instructional decisions so we can better educate our students.
Freshmen: We believe you all have the ability to be successful on this test. Your teachers have worked hard to prepare you for this moment, and we’re sure that you have worked hard as well. Being successful on this test is a way for you to demonstrate BLUE PRIDE to yourself, your family, your teachers, and the whole school community. We all believe in you!
