Next Week and Beyond
We have two days of school next week followed by winter break. This will be our last family update of 2025. Happy New Year from the AHS Team! Classes will resume on Monday, January 5.

Competency Determination Graduation Requirement Notice
Massachusetts requires all students to meet Competency Determination (CD) requirements in order to graduate from high school. In November 2024, Ballot Question 2 updated this requirement by removing MCAS as the sole way students demonstrate competency. Because of this change, the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education updated its regulations and now requires school districts to explain how students will meet the new graduation requirements. The Attleboro School Committee approved an updated Competency Determination policy that outlines these expectations. Families can review the approved policy using the link provided. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Final Reminder: Course Selections
The Aspen portal opened Monday, December 15, for students to make their 2026-27 course requests. Thank you to all those students who have already made their requests. If you have not done so yet, please consider these helpful resources and input your requests. Students will have time in Advisory on Monday and Tuesday to finalize their selections. The portal closes on December 30. We encourage families to discuss requests together. Below are a number of helpful links:
Calling all former AHS students! College and Career Alumni Series 2025-2026
The Guidance Department and the Future Focus Club are excited to bring back our Alumni Series visits while our former students are home on break. Current students are interested in hearing their perspectives on what it means to be a freshman or upperclassman in a variety of settings.
Please fill out this Alumni Series Interest Form to let us know your general availability in January (which will be during our school day) and if there is a better email address to use. Please respond ASAP, and we will follow up with details and a particular date. Feel free to reach out to Julie Little at jlittle@attleboroschools.com for more information!
Thank you!

Attendance Message
A reminder to all families: Every school day matters for student success. While we recognize the value of family time, cultural experiences, and enrichment activities, families are reminded to consider the impact of missed class time. Vacation/extracurricular absences are unexcused and represent learning time that cannot be recovered.
If you have questions about attendance or need support, please reach out. We appreciate your partnership in your child's education.
