Next Week and Beyond

Monday, December 9, marks the first day of trimester two. Students should check their schedules in Aspen for new T2 courses and their room locations. We have X block assemblies for grades 9-11 on Dec 10-12, respectively, to discuss the course request process (details below). See the calendar below for our odd/even schedule.

NEASC Visit

Thank you to the families that participated in our  NEASC visit. The New England Association  of Schools and Colleges spent two days this week touring the building, running focus groups with students, staff, administration, and community members. The visiting team was extremely impressed with the vastness of learning opportunities at AHS. The culture and positivity of our school also stood out to all visiting members. The team reported that the student focus groups shared much pride and respect for their school. We believe this comes from our spectacular school facility, but also due to the dedication and relationships of teachers, students, and community. The NEASC 10 year projection report will arrive within a few weeks. Once it is released we will share it with the faculty and community. The report will include areas of strength  as well as the focus areas for our continued growth.

Our digital and media production department created a Welcome to AHS video for the NEASC team. It exemplifies who we are and how our students feel about their school. Enjoy watching!

Trimester One Report Cards

Trimester one is now over. We plan to publish report cards via Aspen on Wednesday, December 11. Here’s how to access the reports once they are released:

  • STEP 1: Log into your Aspen family account (https://ma-attleboro.myfollett.com) and click the “Pages” top tab.

  • STEP 2: Find the Published Reports heading on the main page.

  • STEP 3: Click the Report Card under that heading.

Scheduling and Course Requests for 2025-26

Students will have two Advisories, the next two Mondays, to review options and make course requests for the next school year. Students will also participate in grade level assemblies. Once requests have been made, guidance counselors will meet with all students to review and provide feedback on requests. Students who do not participate in this process will have their requests made for them.

Students and families are encouraged to review the resources hyperlinked below when making requests. Please know that at this point in the year students are simply making requests. A request does not guarantee placement in a course.

Resources

We recommend that students make a copy of the Course Request Worksheet and use it in conjunction with their grade level one pager when making requests. Students can also use the Program of Studies to learn more about particular courses. Please discuss course requests as a family. The portal to make requests in Aspen will open next week.

CTE Update

The Blue Pride Bistro will be open next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for your dining pleasure.  Also, the Blue Hangar store in the Marketplace is open for holiday shopping!

On December 5, the Attleboro Technical Institute graduated its first class of new, work-ready adults in the areas of Automotive Service, HVAC, Plumbing, Marketing and Welding.  A special thanks goes out to Mr. Vinskus, Mr. Justus, Mr. Brillon, Mr. Esau, Mr. Buduo, Ms. Crisafulli, and Ms. Rego for offering this life-changing program. This unique opportunity was due to a grant funded program that will continue in the future.

Twelve Angry Jurors

The Attleboro High School Drama Club will present the play Twelve Angry Jurors. See the drama unfold as twelve jurors deliberate on a murder trial. While eleven jurors believe the defendant is guilty, one other has the courage to question the case. Can they sway the others, or will it be a hung jury? Come learn the verdict on Friday and Saturday, December 6 & 7 at 7:00pm in the Robert H. Bray Auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door, $8 for students and $10 for adults.

Kids Night Out

The Student Council will be hosting a Kids Night Out event on Saturday, December 14. Please take advantage of this great opportunity!

North Pole Extravaganza

On Saturday, December 15, SkillsUSA will be hosting a North Pole Extravaganza. Bring your family, bring your friends! There will be crafts, face painting, custom CTE products, pictures with Santa (you'll never guess who is playing Santa), and so much more! This event will be from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on December 15. The cost is $5 per person, but is worth so much more!

Alumni and Friends Concert

Hello Faculty, Staff, Alumni and Friends! The AHS Music Dept is excited to announce its Fifth Alumni & Friends Concert scheduled for Friday, January 10, 2025, at 7 PM in the Robert H Bray auditorium.  (Rehearsals on Tues, 1/7, & Thurs, 1/9, from 6-8:30pm).  If anyone would care to join us singing either solo or with the mass ensemble, please contact me for further information. If you graduated from AHS, please include your year of graduation.  The theme this year is “Our Favorite Things…”.  (i.e., what are your favorite songs?!)

If you would like to sing a solo: please send me the song name, if it is from a show or larger work, name the show/larger work and a copy of your music (email a pdf if possible), so I can make the program and give music to our accompanist!!  Also, remember that solos must be learned prior to the run through, as time does not permit us taking time to bang out notes for solos.

Can’t wait to see you all and make some great music!  The ensemble pieces were chosen from last year's alumni suggestions!!  Selections this year will be: Sing Alleluia, Clap Your Hands!, Lacrymosa and Hallelujah Chorus.  Hope you can join us; and please help us spread the word!  (Please RSVP prior to December 19) REGISTER HERE. Please contact Gary Hyman with any questions.
