3.31.23

We had a productive week of learning at AHS this week. The main event was our administration of the ELA MCAS to our sophomore class. Kudos to all the grade 10 students for putting in a great effort and approaching the test with integrity. We also had many other things happening at the school from hands-on learning experiences to music concerts to student court discussions with the school committee. Check out the photos at the bottom of this email for a “snapshot” of what’s happening in our school community.

Next Week

We have four days of school next week:

  • Monday and Wednesday - Odd Days

  • Tuesday and Thursday - Even Days

  • Friday - No School

Opportunities Fair

We are excited to announce that Attleboro High School's School to Career Center will be hosting an Opportunities Fair on April 14, 2023. Most seniors will be participating in this fair during an assigned block. The Opportunities Fair highlights career advancement opportunities, post-secondary opportunities, military,  and career training services. Students are encouraged to network, interact with potential employers and recruiters and bring a resume. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Kristen Marshall in the School to Career Office, kmarshall@attleboroschools.com.

Music Programming

The Bray Auditorium was filled this week with students, smiles, and song. All nine schools were represented in our District Wide Musical Festival. Students and families encouraged and celebrated each other  as they listened to other schools/grade levels was. We look forward to more opportunities like this moving forward.

Coffee Talk

Thank you to the individuals who joined me for Coffee and Conversation today. Kim Janssen, our Instructional Technology Coordinator, was able to offer some Apptegy answers as well as hear some feedback for the app itself. We continued to discuss ongoing communications methods and how to improve.  Although our weekly updates have been posted every Friday since September, as well as added to the website, we will add another means and send in an email every Friday. Our goal is for families to continue to read and celebrate all that is occurring at AHS.

Shelter in Place

Next week we will be conducting a Shelter in Place drill.  During the drill, staff will take the opportunity to share with students that this response is used when there is an external security threat such as severe weather or a medical emergency that requires students and staff to remain in one place with limited movement. The Attleboro Police Department will be involved with these drills.  We have also conducted four successful fire drills this year in collaboration with the Attleboro FIre Department. We will continue to collaborate with both the Attleboro Fire and Police Departments to help ensure the safety of our students and entire school community.
