Happy New Year AHS!

We hope you all had a  wonderful holiday  and were able to relax and  spend time with family and friends.

Although holidays are often connected to celebrations, breaks are sometimes challenging for students. Please reach out to administration, adjustment counselors, or guidance counselors if you feel your child needs a check in as they return to school.

Next Week

We start the new year with a four day week. Please see the schedule below.

A few reminders about next  week:

Like the start of school, our next stage of the building project may need some patience as everyone gets acclimated to the new routes and entrances.  Administration and staff will be directing cars once inside parking lots. Attleboro Police will be supporting the new entrance to oversee traffic patterns and safety. Although this is a big phase to be completed, please remember we are not fully done with the project until Dec. 2024. We anticipate some traffic on January 3, please arrive early. If your child is driving to school, please remind them to follow staff and police directions and to drive slowly in the parking lots. If your child drives to school please review their options for student parking.   We reviewed this information with all students before break. Students will be receiving parking stickers once all student vehicles are registered.

Parking and Bus Loop Update

On January 3, changes to the bus loop and staff/student parking will go into effect. Here are some important notes:

  • All traffic will now flow through the front of the building. We anticipate that this increased volume may cause delays as we adjust to the new traffic pattern. Please plan accordingly.

  • Please review the diagrams. Each lot has designated sections for certain vehicles; please don’t park in these spots.

  • Lot C will re-open and become a shared lot for staff and students.

  • All staff and students parking in Lot C will enter via Rathbun Willard Drive.

  • All buses and Lot C parkers will now enter campus via Rathbun Willard Drive. The bus loop and Lot C will NOT be accessible via Bushee or Verndale Streets.

  • Lot C is now the only place on campus for student drivers to park. Lots A and B are for staff only.

  • The Bushee and Tennis parking lots will be closed.

  • Students parking in the Highland Lot may continue to do so. Additional parking is available along the Drummond Street fields for students.

  • Students should not park on the streets in nearby neighborhoods.

Mayoral Debate

We are proud to announce that the AHS Student Council will be hosting a mayoral debate in the Robert H. Bray auditorium on Wednesday, January 11, at 6:30 in the evening. Students will be organizing the debate and asking the candidates questions. This event will be open to the public, so save the date!

As we enter the new year at AHS,  we continue to emphasize the importance of our school values. The entire staff and administration, in collaboration with students, have set high standards for ourselves and our school. Please ask your child how they can be a part of strengthening POSITIVITY, RESPECT, INTEGRITY, DETERMINATION and EQUITY at AHS. Everyone in our school community is an important member and has the ability to make a difference. Together we are building a school community that allows us to engage, challenge and  inspire each other, while encouraging values that strengthens a culture we can all be proud to call ours.
