Family Update 24-25

1.3.25

AHS has finished our second week of Alumni Series visits. Nyla Eweka  is currently attending Howard University and shared valuable lessons and information from her perspective as a college student. She said AHS prepared her for her journey beyond HS!

Next Week and Beyond

We have five full days of school next week. Please see the even/odd calendar below for additional details.

Family Conferences

Save the date! Family/Teacher conferences will take place on Thursday, January 16 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Parents/guardians will be able to schedule five minute appointments with their student’s teachers via Sign-up Genius. More information will be shared next week regarding the procedure for booking appointments. We’re excited to introduce this new system and look forward to making the conference experience smoother for everyone!

Final Reminder: Course Selections

As you know, the Aspen portal opened Monday, December 16, for students to make their 2025-26 course requests. Thank you to all those students who have already made their requests. If you have not done so yet, please consider these helpful resources and input your requests. The portal closes on January 5, 2024. We encourage families to discuss requests together.

These slideshows linked below provide foundational information for the course request process:

We recommend that students make a copy of the Course Request Worksheet (see above) and use it in conjunction with their grade level one pager (also above) when making requests. Students can also use the Program of Studies to learn more about particular courses.

BLUE PRIDE AMBASSADORS CLUB (BPAC)

The BPAC is a group open to AHS parents, guardians and staff with the purpose of enhancing educational and other opportunities for the entire school community.  Meetings resumed in late fall of this academic year.  A new board was elected and new goals were developed for the remainder of the year.  You are invited to join the next meeting on Tuesday 1/7/25 at 5:30 pm.  The meeting will be held in the Student Activities Office (SAO) and can be accessed through the front main entrance of the school.  Please join us as we work toward expanding the group and working toward our new goals for our students and staff.

CTE Update

The Blue Pride Bistro will be open Thursday and Friday of next week.

Early Education/childcare and Dental Assisting working together!
