AHS Happenings

We had another productive week of learning and community building here at AHS.

This week, Mr. Carpenter and Mrs. Gibson’s class used our collaborative whiteboard space to learn about place value.

AHS students community building and collaborating to start the year.

Next Week

We have five full days next week:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday - Odd Days

Tuesday, Thursday - Even Days

Back to School Night

Save the date! Back to school night for families is Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Families will follow their students’ schedules and visit all eight classes. We will also have staff on hand to help with submitting free/reduced lunch forms, collect grade 11 PSAT fees, and answer questions. Details:

  • Doors will open at 5:45. Please allow yourself plenty of time to park and find your way to your student’s Period 1 class.

  • Know your student’s schedule. Families will visit all eight academic periods. You can find your student’s schedule in Aspen. Better yet, ask your student for their schedule. You need three basic pieces of information: teacher name, room number, and course name. Have them write it down for you!

  • Find your way: Here is a map of the entire building: AHS MAP.

  • Below is the “bell schedule” for the night:

    • 1 - 6:00 to 6:15

    • 2 - 6:20 to 6:30

    • 3 - 6:35 to 6:45

    • 4 - 6:50 to 7:00

    • 5 - 7:05 to 7:15

    • 6 - 7:20 to 7:30

    • 7 - 7:35 to 7:45

Picture Day

On Wednesday, September 20, the Attleboro High School will hold School Picture Day.  This year we will be working with Lifetouch. Lifetouch offers many additional services, including the ability to purchase pictures online.  For pricing information, here is a link to the order form.

This year we will also offer Senior Portrait sessions being held on site after school.

Technology: Rooms News

The district is steadily making progress with helping families access Rooms. In addition to contacting Kimberly Janssen, there are two websites that can provide information/help with Rooms:

Late Work and Test Retakes

Now that the school year is underway, we wanted to share with students and families some general guidelines concerning late work and test retakes. Regarding late work, students will have two weeks from the due date to submit the assignment. Regarding test retakes, students will have two weeks upon the return of the test to retake it if they so choose. Furthermore, to be eligible for a test retake, students must do two things: 1) demonstrate effort on the initial assessment, and 2) reflect on their performance. Students must demonstrate effort so teachers can give accurate feedback regarding areas of improvement. Students must reflect on their teacher’s feedback and formulate a plan to improve performance.

Drop Off and Pick Up

Thank you for your patience as the rotary finishes the last stages. In the morning there are TWO lanes entering the front driveway to allow for student drop off in a timely manner. In the afternoon there is only ONE lane on the right hand side which allows families to pick up their student and move over to the left lane for quicker exiting.  Please remember there is also a pick up area in the back of the school via the Bushee Street entrance.
