What’s new with the AHS Alumni Association?

The AHSAA recently hosted its seventh annual Alumni Gathering on May 15, 2018, at the Attleboro Arts Museum in downtown Attleboro.  Thank you to all who attended, especially the members of the 1997-1998 AHS boys basketball team who were recognized at the event on the 20th anniversary of their State Championship winning season.

The Sun Chronicle had great coverage of the event in an article publishein its print edition on May 17th.  You can read the article online at:

The AHSAA awarded its annual Book Award at the Annual Scholarship Evening on May 17th.  Wendy Adams and Karen Kull, AHSAA committee members, presented the $500 award to Katelyn Hurst, Class of 2018, a three year student of the AHS Medical Assisting Program.  Katelyn is the daughter of John Hurst, Class of 1985, and Susan Hurst, Class of 1988.  Katelyn intends to study Nursing at BCC.

Congratulations to Katelyn and to ALL the graduating seniors in the Class of 2018, the newest members of the AHS Alumni Association.  Best wishes as you graduate and move on to discover new adventures filled with success and happiness!

Annual Leaf Rake

The Attleboro High School Alumni Association (AHSAA), together with the Attleboro Council on Aging, recently held its 5th Annual Attleboro Community Leaf Rake.  Together we organized 23 raking teams, scattered throughout all sections of the City, to clear the yards of 40 residents on various dates from November 10 to November 26.  Roughly 235 people took part in the event.

The AHSAA gives many thanks to the following student organizations, athletic teams, and community groups for their leaf-raking efforts:

Teams from AHS who raked on November 11th:  Baseball (Coach Matt Bosh); Basketball/Soccer (Coaches Mark Houle, David Oliver, and Steve Santos); Field Hockey (Coaches Lindsay Antunes, Stacey Bell, and Kristen Mitchell); Hockey (Coaches Mark Homer and Drew Fernberg); Volleyball (Coach Dick Seibert); National Honor Society (Advisor Angela Larson); Leo Club (Advisor Greg Billon and Gail Breit); as well as two teams of combined alumni and volunteers.

Teams from the Attleboro Community: Attleboro Fall Badgers baseball team, advisor Russell Jackson; Attleboro Enterprises Inc., advisor Ashley Hall; CBRE/Global Workplace, leader Mark Toffling; Columbia Gas, leader Chevonne Baldwin; Our Greatest Resource, advisor John Hanrahan; Intellichief, leader Jennifer Stimer; Wal-Mart, leader Carolann Mora; and Wheaton College, leader Cassandra Peltoa.

Our partner, the Attleboro Council on Aging, deserves a special mention for their behind-the-scenes work organizing senior addresses, gathering equipment, and coordinating with community teams.  A project of this size could never have been accomplished without members of the Attleboro community stepping up and giving above and beyond what was asked.  We are all Blue Pride at its best.
